Picking up Uniform and Accreditation!

Saturday 5th July 2014 – Picking up Uniform and Accreditation!

Alarm goes off at 6:00am. I'm out of bed dashing to get ready to get to Birmingham Airport for my 8.55am flight to Glasgow International Airport.

Once arrived in Glasgow I took a taxi to UAC AKA Uniform and Accreditation Centre which was at Kevin Hall for my 11am appointment.

First up I had my documents checked and my accreditation pass created! I then went to another part to pick up my accreditation! Next up was to try on and choose my uniform! After waiting for my number I was taken into a changing room to try on my uniform!

After trying on two different sizes, I had to go and pick up the right uniform and then go through a checkout! (So they knew what uniform had left the building)!

The uniform felt very comfortable and looked good on me – even if I do say so myself!

So now with my uniform intact I feel like a real Clyde-Sider!  After a journey back to the city centre and a bit of lunch, it was time to go back home. So I took a bus back to the airport and then a plane back to Birmingham! So I am fully trained and have my uniform, the next time I'm in Glasgow will be for the Games themselves! Bring it on!!!

Venue Specific Training: The Next Stage!

Sunday 29th June 2014 – Venue Specific Training! The Next Stage ...

On Saturday 28th June I left Birmingham and travelled to Glasgow. I was staying at a Premier Inn in the city centre. After a good nights sleep I left my hotel at 8.00am. I walked to the station to catch a train to Mount Florida. Then after a little walk I arrived at the Hampden Park (the home of the Scotland National Team).

First up we had a general presentation about our venue telling us about what to do when we arrived, where different parts of the venue would be, about transport and etc! Providing us a overall of Hampden Park, the athletics venue!

After a bit we were taken on a tour of venue! Showing us where the workforce break area was, how to get into the venue and down onto the track going the way the athletes would go and much more! Then we went and met our manager who shown us the room we would be working in and some other places! And he answered all our questions!

It was a good training session, ever if the venue will look so much different when we come back for games time (Had to do venue specific training early because of Diamond League Meeting at Hampden Park). I now can't wait to get going!

After a journey back to the city centre, it was time to go back home. So I took a bus back to the airport and then a plane back to Birmingham!

That's all my training completed, just one more trip to pick up my uniform and then it will be games times!!!!
