Training! The Journey Begins
On Friday 7th
March I left Birmingham and travelled to Glasgow. I was staying at a Premier Inn in the city centre.
After a good nights sleep I left my hotel at 8.00am.
I walked to the station to catch a train to Dalmarnock. Then after a little walk
I arrived at the Emirates Arena. After a bit we were let in and then I took my
seat in the front row of the Arena.
The show was presented by Hazel Irvine, Des
Clarke and David
Farrell! It was a 3 hour introduction to the Commonwealth Games! During the show
we were shown the history about Games, lots of information on
different aspects of the games including information about venues and the baton
relay. They also had different athletes giving a taste of different sports
including Rugby Sevens, Gymnastics, Table Tennis and the Pole Vault.
At the end of the show we were shown the
uniform that we would wear. I really like the uniform and think it will make
volunteers stand out and be easily recognisable.
It was a fun
training session and got me even more excited for the Glasgow Games this summer! After a journey back to the city centre and a bit of lunch, it was time
to go back home. So I took a bus back to the airport and then a plane back
to Birmingham! I'm
so super excited for the rest of training and to be part of these games. I'm
sure the summer will be amazing!
